Thank You
The team at Alliston Food Bank — as well as our many clients the food bank serves — are immensely grateful for the unwavering support and generosity of our current and past sponsors and donors. Your contributions have played a vital role in helping us combat food insecurity and provide nourishment to those in need within the Alliston community.
Your belief in our mission has been truly inspiring, and we extend our heartfelt thanks to each and every one of you. Together, we have made a significant impact.
But our work is not done. We invite others to join us on this journey by becoming a sponsor or supporter of Alliston Food Bank. With your partnership, we can continue to make a difference and ensure that no one goes hungry.
Feed Ontario
Our sincere thanks to Feed Ontario for the $22,261 Feeding Possibilities Grant that allowed us to retrofit our Ford Transit Van with a commercial grade refrigeration unit, insulated panels, & additional safety features. Through your generosity, our dream of improving the service we can provide to our local community has become a reality. Thank you from all of us for your continued support & commitment to end hunger!
Van Sponsorships
A huge thank you goes out to everyone who sponsored our van. With the generous support of local organizations and a grant from Feed Ontario, we were able to raise 84% of the total cost of our van.
The refrigerated van ensures all of our perishable food is transported safely and at the proper temperature. We are able to pick up larger quantities of food now, drive further to pick up rescued food and to expand our food sharing relationships with other food banks, which saves thousands of dollars each month.
We couldn’t have done it without the generosity of our sponsors and their unwavering commitment to our community. Thank you for your continued support and commitment to hunger. We are proud to call you partners.

We are committed to ensuring that no one in our community goes hungry. Central to our mission is our food sourcing objectives, which aim to provide nutritious food to those in need.
We have established incredible partnerships with local grocery stores, farmers, business and community members to secure a diverse range of fresh produce, non-perishable food items, and perishable items such as bread, milk and eggs. By collaborating with our local partners, not only do we reduce food waste but we also ensure that individuals and families have access to nourishing meals.
In addition to our food sourcing efforts, we provide a range of services to support our neighbours such as emergency food hampers and weekly pickups for our community social service programs.
Food Rescue
Our food bank is a member of Feed Ontario and Food Banks Canada. In addition to our local donations, we are now more reliant on corporate “Food Rescue” programs through our membership with these organizations.
Both Second Harvest and Food Banks Canada have developed a “Food Rescue” initiative which allows grocery stores to donate safe to eat foods that would have otherwise been thrown out. Stores can safely freeze meat, dairy products and other perishable items on the best-before-date and donate it to food banks in need.
We are currently partnering with Foodland Beeton, FreshCo Alliston, No Frills Tottenham and Zehrs Alliston in this program. In 2023 we rescued and distributed over 80,000 lbs of food – both reducing our cost and decreasing food waste in Canada.
How Does Food Rescue Work?
We rescue fresh and frozen edible and safe-to-eat food to redistribute to those in need. We receive meat frozen on the best-before-date, frozen dairy products and produce that has some imperfections (such as misshaped).
We receive non-perishable foods that have passed the best before date but are still safe to consume. All of the food is inspected and sorted by our volunteers.
How far past the best-before-date do YOU think these foods can be safely consumed?
